Sources

The Arabic text, metadata and page layout are obtained through the resources of the Quran Foundation and Quran.com. The Tanzil project is used for an independent verification of the text.

Quran data provided by Quran Foundation.

The page fonts QCF v2 and the Uthmanic Hafs font are delivered through the Quran Foundation infrastructure; their documentation names the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex (Medina, Saudi Arabia) as the source of these fonts. The files are used unchanged.

The audio recordings are not stored on read-quran.org: after you start playback the browser requests them directly from EveryAyah.com.

Available reciters: Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Abdul Basit Abdus-Samad, Abdurrahman As-Sudais, Maher Al-Muaiqly, Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi and Abu Bakr Ash-Shatri.

read-quran.org is an independent project. Naming a source does not mean that the listed organisations have reviewed, approved or endorse the site.

How a release is verified

Before every release all 114 surahs, 6236 ayahs and 604 pages are checked automatically. The accuracy of the Arabic text, the order of ayahs, the page breaks, the fonts, the audio and the offline mode are all under control.

A change of the Quranic text is allowed only after a repeated verification against the sources and a full pass of the checks.

Privacy

The site does not ask for a name, an e-mail address or an account. The reading position, the selected ayah, bookmarks and settings are stored locally in the user's browser.

There are no ads, cookies or third-party counters on the site. The IP address is shortened before it is written to the technical log, and the log and the private statistics are limited to 30 days. Apart from the technical operation of the hosting, a direct connection to an external service happens only after an action chosen by the user — for example, starting the audio or sending an e-mail.

The private Read Quran Search Operations tool helps the site owner follow indexing in Google and Yandex; it is not part of the reader, is not available to visitors and never requests access to their Google or Yandex accounts.
